From right here in Ontario County to as far as Steuben County, our plant installation team have been providing quality service in scheduling, delivering, and planting at homes for years. 

How does this process work? 

We always encourage you to visit our Tree & Shrub Nursery to browse our plant varieties. Once you’ve found all of the plants you are interested in having installed, our nursery staff will uniquely tag your plants and provide you with a timeline when the plant installation will occur. At the time of purchase, you will be provided with flags to mark where you would like plants to be planted. If multiple types of plants are purchased, each flag should be clearly labeled.

After purchase, our Plant Installation Manager will contact you within a week to schedule your planting. On the day of planting, our plant installation team will unload the plants and plant them in the marked locations. 

The plant installation process includes: 

• Digging holes for the plants
• Amending soil with compost and Bio-Tone Starter Plant Food fertilizer
• Either breaking up the root ball of the plants, or prepping balled and burlapped plants
• Mulching around the plant, exposing the root flare above the soil surface
• Tree staking if the tree is large enough, or if requested

Will you install other plants, such as perennials or annuals?

We occasionally install perennials with the caveat of trees or shrubs being on the same order. Not all perennial plants qualify for installation. No annual plants qualify for installation. Get in touch with our Plant Installation Team for more details.

How much does the plant installation service cost?

We have a service charge on plant installations of 80% of the plant’s original price plus a discounted, flat-rate delivery fee. Plants sold at a discount, but are installed, have a slightly different formula for determining the total cost pre-tax.

*What’s the Bob Cat Fee?

We have professional staff who specialize in operating this heavy machinery and will be required to be on-site if the Bob Cat is required. The Bob Cat Fee ($350.00) is a flat-rate service required for trees of a particular size. Tree sizes this would be mandatory for are those of 3” or greater caliper and 8-9’ or larger trees. Our nursery staff will clarify if the Bob Cat Fee is required while you work with them on tree selections. This is a one-time fee per plant installation if it is required.

Does your team perform plant removals?

Our Plant Installation Team does not remove plants. The scope of team’s service is everything listed above. 

Other services we do not offer include:

• Bed prep, bed creation or weeding
• Old plant or stump removal
• Mulching of entire beds
• After care: Re-staking, re-mulching, watering, straightening, pruning, integrated pest management, winterization etc.
• Delivery of items not included in your installation (extra items purchased would require a separate delivery)

We are happy to offer guidance on these tasks, but we do not perform them.
